“Our child just completed PHP at the Brooklyn Park location and it was wonderful! I was very nervous upon them starting after reading some of the prior reviews, but thankfully, our experience was much better than what I read. The staff was wonderful. We loved therapist Megan L., as well as the doctor/nurse team- Jess and Holly. Fiona, social worker, and Luke were also essential people on our care team. I have no regrets in sending my child here, and wish there would have been something like this when I was a teen. My child left the program in a much healthier mental state than they were upon beginning, and that meant the world to us! Highly recommend this program for other struggling teens, as it can truly be life changing! Thank you!!”

“When our child was being picked up from the local hospitak, the transport was half an hour earlier than we were told. We almost missed being able to speak with them. We had no communication at all about bringing personal items, etc. After being there two hours, someone called to ask what medications they needed. They could not provide us more information. We called back later two separate times and left a voicemail. No one returned our call. The next day, we called back in the morning, and again reached a voicemail. 3 hours after that call, I tried again and someone finally answered, but then was told my child was elsewhere and put on hold repeatedly. Eventually my child called me back, and had not received any messages from us. At this point we still had no communication about care, plans, intentions etc. We decided that we could not deal with such a mess of an establishment, who clearly does not care about the children or their families, and requested our child be discharged so we could get them help elsewhere, where we would at least have the courtesy of knowing they were alive. In such a terrifying and overwhelming time for a parent who is trying to help their child and do everything they can, Prairie Care was nothing but a complete let down.”

“I’ve been here multiple times since I was 12 and I am now 18. My problem is never with the techs and nurses— I have staff members that have made my stays manageable and less miserable and that I genuinely still view in a positive light. My problem is with the therapists and psychiatrists especially from my most recent stay which was some time between Oct-Nov last year. I made it extremely clear to my entire treatment team that DBT is not something that works for me and that I have tried it multiple times without any success. Despite this they proceed to only use DBT skills during therapy sessions and would interrupt me venting to start telling me about a DBT skill I could’ve used in the situation. It’s ridiculous how your treatment team doesn’t listen to you and that the floor staff (techs, nurses, etc.) listen and understand you better than your team. If you can only think of one thing to help your patients— especially if said patient has made it explicitly clear that it doesn’t work, you are awful at your job. On top of all this I made it clear from the day I got there that I wanted to proceed with PHP when I got out— not only did they not listen to me they also barely talked to my mom about any of it either and also failed to communicate with the PHP program (which is their own program) on their own to let them know I wouldn’t be returning. (because they wanted to put me in you guessed it out-patient DBT.) I genuinely can’t stand this place anymore because of the people they hire. They can’t do their jobs and act like DBT is their god and if they don’t mention it they’re defiling their lord and savior.”

“They continue to not work with insurances correctly. I have spent over 50 hours being the middle man between them and the insurance to get everything covered and they continue to say they are resubmitting and then just don’t. It’s infuriating. My family member did not receive good care there, basically very expensive babysitting. I highly recommend going somewhere else.”
