Nystrom and Associates is not only run very poorly, but will take your money and leave you with more hurt and frustration than you started with. I would need to write a book on all of the issues I ended up having here. I invested my entire trust and the efforts into a therapist for almost a year to just be completely let down. It took (what should have been) a small conflict to see all of issues within the office staff and management. There is a complete disconnect between management and the therapists themselves. I highly encourage anyone to seek a smaller organization to avoid the hurt and disappointment that Nystrom and Associates will leave you with. This is our mental health, arguably the most important aspect of us as humans. Not something to be played around with, which is exactly what you'll get with Nystrom. I should have listened to others who had the same experiences who warned me not to give them a chance. I really hope my complaint makes it to someone high enough within the organization to see that change NEEDS to happen. This is unacceptable and unethical.

Everything is done in a timely fashion. I don’t have to call but once to get an appointment, it’s easy to access my therapist and so far the customer service has been great. I like my therapist she’s thoughtful and listens to what I say. She has helped me with sleeping meds, which I really appreciate.

I’ve had some really traumatic experiences with therapists in the past, including confidentiality being broken, so starting therapy again was honestly scary for me. At first I was matched with a therapist who ended up canceling on me twice before we were even able to meet, which made me nervous about continuing. However, the person handling scheduling quickly stepped in and matched me with another therapist, and I’m so grateful they did. She has been an incredible fit. She is kind, professional, and genuinely makes me feel safe and heard. For the first time in a long time, I actually look forward to my sessions. My experience with her so far has been amazing, and I truly appreciate the care taken to make sure I was placed with someone who works well for me.

I am writing this honest review to warn others and encourage them to seek care elsewhere for their own well-being. After trying everything else to treat an ongoing dependence on painkillers, I turned to Nystrom. I had heard good things about Suboxone and hoped to find an experienced professional to safely guide me through the recovery process. Unfortunately, this experience cost me $2,000, six months of my life, and severely impacted my mental, physical, and emotional health due to a profound lack of guidance and medical oversight. Initially, I was very optimistic. The doctor started me on a 4 mg dose. Immediately after taking it, I knew it was far too high and had to spit it out. Over the following week, my sleep severely deteriorated, and I felt like a complete zombie. I had no idea what was happening because I was never warned that Suboxone could cause severe sleep issues. When I reported this at my one-week check-in, the doctor looked completely shocked and surprised, as if he had never heard of this side effect before. Yet, a basic search easily shows that sleep disturbance is a primary side effect for people adjusting to the medication. When I asked about tapering down from 4 mg, he had no clear answers and essentially told me to just experiment until I found a dose I was comfortable with. The most damaging part of this experience came from his explicit instruction to wait as long as possible between doses, claiming this would make it easier to get off the medication later. I followed his instructions perfectly. As a result, I spent four months in absolute agony, mentally, physically, and emotionally. What the doctor failed to tell me is that Suboxone requires building stable, consistent levels in the bloodstream to prevent withdrawal. Because I was waiting as long as possible between doses, I was unknowingly putting myself into a constant state of random withdrawal. I discovered this completely by accident after waiting three days between doses per his recommendation, entering severe withdrawal, and taking it regularly out of desperation. This incorrect guidance completely robbed me of my mental health for months. To make matters worse, if a dose is incorrect or needs adjusting, you are left completely stuck in that situation for at least a month before you can see the doctor again due to a total lack of availability. Eventually, I settled on a very low dose. Because it was so low, it failed to manage my cravings, leading to several relapses. When I scheduled an appointment to ask what to do, the doctor initially told me to raise my dose, but then immediately changed his mind and warned me against it, saying it would make me "not feel like myself." He completely contradicted his own advice and provided incorrect information yet again. Now, six months later, I am off Suboxone but have had no success getting off the painkillers. I take full responsibility for getting myself into this situation, but these providers are prescribing an extremely powerful, high-risk medication with seemingly little to no practical experience or proper oversight. Had the doctor simply instructed me to start at a low dose like 1 mg, take it daily to maintain stability, and slowly step down, I would not be in this position. I relied on his medical expertise, and he completely failed me. There are many other providers out there who have significant experience, understand how this medication actually works, and are available if something goes wrong. Please value your well-being and seek your care elsewhere.
